Team members who are in this dual caring role are likely to be under a huge amount of pressure. I’d like to share a little bit of my story and how Virgin Media supported me.
Real life happens
In 2020 my lovely independent 89-year-old mum had an accident that left her completely reliant on my sister and I for her care.
At the time I was working for Virgin Media.
You can read more about how amazingly well I was supported by Virgin, but please have a listen to see what my mum and I both had to say about the impact an amazing employer had on our lives.

Facts
and figures:
Approx 5 million people juggle work and care in the UK, that’s 1 in 7 in every workplace - and this figure is likely to go up.
Given the stresses and strains that can result from balancing work and caring, it’s not surprising that 1 in 6 carers give up work or reduce their hours to cope.
Most of those people are likely to be some of your most skilled and valuable people in the peak of their careers, between the ages of 40 to 60.
Helping staff through tough times you’ll see many benefits:
Staff retention and attraction of talent
Increased Productivity
Reduced sick leave and absenteeism
Increased wellbeing
Guilt to Grace programme structure
My offer for organisations is almost identical to my offer for private individuals, 1 to 1 support over a period of 8 sessions, with the addition of an optional blot on of a monthly workshop.
The aim of the programme is to help each carer to get rid of guilt and reconnect with their loved ones without losing themselves.
It isn’t therapy; it's practical, action-oriented coaching to help them regain control of their life and find balance.
The monthly session is for all carers in your network to come together for a lunchtime facilitated group coaching session where they will be able to vent, share their experience and build allies in the organisation.
The coaching is completely bespoke and tailored to individual needs, but the benefits to the organisation are huge.
Investing in your team's well-being, will see them become happier, more productive, and even more loyal.
This all-around approach helps your employees thrive, even when life is tough.
I’m here to help develop strategies to make life while caregiving richer and more rewarding.
Your people will complete our programme with new ways to manage the difficult moments and an understanding of what is most important to them.
The programme usually takes between 2 to 4 months to complete but it is ultimately up to each person how fast they move.
Book a call to talk more about how this could really benefit some of the most hardworking people in your organisation.
